Alla Bachai’s Story of Strength and Self-Reliance
With determination and quiet strength, Alla Bachai has transformed personal hardship into a journey of resilience and self-reliance.
In Village Tourband, UC Gaheja, Taluka Garhi Yasin, District Shikarpur, her life changed in 2020 when she lost her husband to kidney failure. Suddenly responsible for raising four children alone, she faced severe emotional and financial challenges, struggling to meet daily needs and keep her children in school.
Seeking a path forward, Alla Bachai accessed support through the Prime Minister’s Interest Free Loan (PMIFL) Programme, A nationwide flagship initiative of the Government of Pakistan, implemented by PPAF through its partner organisations. After completing the required documentation, she received an initial loan of PKR 30,000, enabling her to purchase a sewing machine and start tailoring work from her home.
Her commitment and timely repayments helped her access two additional interest-free loans of PKR 35,000 and PKR 40,000, allowing her to gradually expand her enterprise. She diversified her business by adding embroidery items, decorative laces, and women’s beauty products, increasing her daily income to around PKR 1,000.
Today, this steady income supports her household and ensures uninterrupted education for her children—her top priority. She dreams that her daughters become doctors and her son joins the Police Service of Pakistan.
Reflecting on her journey, Alla Bachai shares, “This loan was not just money; it was hope.” Today, she stands as a confident entrepreneur and an inspiration for other women in her community, demonstrating how access to finance can turn adversity into opportunity and restore dignity through livelihood.
