From Daily Wages to a Dream Realised

In Hujra Shah Muqeem, District Okara, Najma Arshad once struggled to support her family of six on her husband’s irregular daily wages. Meeting household needs and managing the education expenses of their four daughters was a constant challenge, leaving little room to plan for a secure future.

Determined to improve their circumstances, Najma and her husband decided to start a small grocery business. Through the Prime Minister’s Interest-Free Loan programme implemented by PPAF through its partner organisation, Najma received her first loan of PKR 50,000. The support enabled the couple to rent a small shop and begin their business journey.

Over time, Najma successfully utilised three additional loan cycles to expand the shop, increase inventory, and strengthen the family’s income. What began as a small, rented setup gradually transformed into a stable and growing enterprise.

Today, Najma has achieved a milestone she once only hoped for, owning her own shop. Her family now manages household expenses with greater dignity and stability, supports the education of all four daughters, and is building savings for the future.

Najma’s story reflects how access to financial resources can empower families beyond immediate livelihoods, restoring confidence, creating long-term stability, and opening new opportunities for the next generation.
