Funded by the Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF) and implemented by the Family Educational Services Foundation (FESF), the Deaf Reach program is transforming education infrastructure for deaf children across Pakistan. By establishing Centres of Excellence in partnership with provincial Social Welfare Departments, existing government school facilities are being converted into vibrant, inclusive learning hubs. The initiative currently supports 347 deaf students in Quetta, Balochistan, and 130 students in Nowshera, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). Each campus delivers Pakistan Sign Language (PSL)-based academic instruction, vocational skills training, teacher development, student transport, and modernized facilities equipped with IT labs and renewable solar energy.
Expanding this high-impact model to northern Pakistan, the initiative is now launching operations in Gilgit-Baltistan through government complex renovations, vocational lab setups, and student enrollment. Across all project regions, this collaboration tackles a critical national gap where fewer than 5% of deaf children receive formal schooling. By equipping deaf youth with PSL fluency, practical job skills, and workplace inclusion opportunities, the program breaks systemic marginalization and enables students to become independent, contributing members of society.
