LUMS-PPAF join hands in leadership development
October 5, 2009
The Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) has joined hands with Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF) for the provision of training facilities to PPAF and its partner organizations' staff, carrying out their strategic reviews and undertaking consultancy assignments on behalf of PPAF.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to this effect was signed by Mr. Kamal Hyat, Chief Executive/Managing Director, PPAF, and Dr. Ahmad J. Durrani, Vice Chancellor, LUMS, at PPAF head office on Tuesday.
Besides offering training facilities, LUMS would also carry out research and surveys for PPAF, which would be helpful in the execution and evaluation of various projects of PPAF. The Social Enterprise Development Center (SEDC) at LUMS will be working on this project. The SEDC realizes that to meet emerging challenges, organizations in the development sector must continually develop their managerial talent.
Keeping in view the exponential growth of PPAF partner organizations, there was a need to strengthen the leadership of both the PPAF and civil society organizations to meet the development challenges in the years to come. And this initiative between LUMS and PPAF will go a long way in fulfilling this leadership and training requirements.
Special areas of focus would be training of key personnel of PPAF and its POs in leadership and managerial skills, microfinance, microenterprise development, livelihood enhancement and protection, disaster preparedness and response, institutional development of POs based on strategic reviews and focused research on a number of poverty alleviation-related topics to provide a rational basis for
Kamal Hyat, Chief Executive/Managing Director, PPAF, and Dr. Ahmad J. Durrani, Vice Chancellor, LUMS, on the occasion of signing of MoU.
