World Bank funding for Earthquake Disability Project

PPAF signed a US $ 5 million Earthquake Disability Project with the World Bank. The project aims to facilitate more than 9,000 Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) living in 34 union councils of AJK and NWFP by ensuring better mobility, improved physical and mental health and increased participation in social and economic life.
One of the components of the project includes capacity building of service providers for disability rehabilitation. This will be achieved by training mental health service providers and providing support to community-based organizations for proposal writing. The project will be implemented through PPAF partner organizations.

PPAF documentaries on special people

PPAF has produced three documentaries on life and achievements of special people affected by deadly October 8, 2005 earthquake in Pakistan. The documentaries intend to capture the resilience of people who have successfully come out of the trauma of encountering physical disabilities. Based on lives of Kiran Ashiq, Aiyaz Shah and Munazir Aziz, these documentaries are living examples and serve as a source of encouragement and motivation for not only those who are physically handicapped but also for those who despite being blessed with all senses lack motivation, will and courage to live. The documentaries were shot in Platbala (AJK), Patlang and Balakot in NWFP.
