Sungi Development Founfation (SUNGI)

Sungi Development Foundation is working in Hazara Division of NWFP since 1989. Their area of operation lies in 4 districts namely Haripur, Abbottabad, Mansehra and Battagram. They have done 452 CPI projects during past three years (1998 – 2000). Most of their beneficiary communities live in mountainous areas where lack of basic infrastructure facilities is major barrier in uplift of their socio-economic conditions. Dependence on natural resources (forest and water) contributes to their vulnerability to natural calamities like the recent drought. Hence the need for sustainable interventions such as infrastructure, which may enhance their economic and social conditions has grown up substantially. Sungi have done infrastructure  projects like irrigation, link roads, drinking water supply and sanitation schemes. They have proposed similar projects to PPAF for funding.
