Credit and Enterprise Development Unit
The CED Unit manages the microcredit and enterprise development
component of the PPAF in accordance with an approved eligibility
criteria. The unit focuses on the identification of credible
and capable partner organizations which are selected through
a transparent and rigorous process. The objective is to select
partner organizations which with the support and assistance
of the PPAF can become efficient intermediaries for cost effective
and sustainable delivery of financial services to the beneficiaries.

Community Physical Infrastructure Unit
The Community Physical Infrastructure Unit of the PPAF provides
support in the form of loans or grants to partner organizations
for approved physical infrastructure interventions. Identification
of the projects is demand driven, and is determined by the communities
through an internal participatory process. For purposes of ownership
it is mandatory for the communities to share in the costs of
the project, and also to maintain the infrastructure provided.

Human and Institutional Development Unit
The operational brief of the Human and Institutional Development
Unit (HID) is to administer the capacity building and training
component of the PPAF. The main objective of the unit is to
strengthen institutional capacities and human resource base
of the partner organizations so they are able to deliver efficient
and cost effective services to the end beneficiaries. Financial
and non financial assistance is provided to support incremental
expansion in outreach and attain long term sustainability.

Health and Education Unit
The main task of the Health and Education Unit (H&E) is
to build the capacities of partner organizations to provide
quality health and educational services at community level.
By providing quality healthcare and access to primary education,
PPAF supported facilities aim at providing the necessary framework
for better and more prosperous livelihoods.
The social sector interventions compliment the ongoing work
of the PPAF with its partner organizations, and add a crucial
dimension in the fight against poverty.

LiveliHood:
The objective of this component is to
develop the capacity, opportunities, assets and productivity of
community members to reduce their vulnerability to shocks,
improve their livelihoods initiatives and strengthen their
business operations. This component will also support community
members to build up their savings capacity and proficiency in
funds management through internal lending, while complementing
these efforts with grants and technical support to increase
assets, productivity and incomes. Under this component,
mechanisms will be developed and implemented to identify and
support innovative micro enterprises and value chain development
that will result in improved livelihood. Further, Linkages will
be facilitated and promoted with private, public sector and
civil society providers to bring sustainability in the
livelihood of people especially ultra poor.

Social Mobilization Unit:
The objective of this component is to
empower the poor and vulnerable segment of the society by
supporting them to form their organizations and federation of
these organizations at higher levels such as revenue village and
union council. The purpose of federating is to build voice and
attain economies of scale for an effective interface with all
development stakeholders including PPAF, its POs, development
projects, government departments and markets. Under the said
component PPAF’s partner organizations are entrusted with the
task of intensifying their coverage within revenue villages and
then the union council areas and strengthen new and existing
community institutions. The local institutions developed by
technical and financial assistance of the said component not
only undertake self help development initiatives but are also
aware of their rights and their responsibilities towards their
community members, society at large and the state.

Water Management Center
PPAF Water Management Center (PWMC) has been established as
a central resource facility and a strategic program unit of
PPAF. The mission of PWMC is to incorporate water –focused interventions
aimed at reducing poverty and safeguarding against vulnerability
related to water scarcity and/or water-related disasters.The
distinguished features of PWMC are strategic perspectives, local
solutions, participatory processes, advanced technology applications,
state of the art Geographical Information System, 24 drought
mitigation projects, 60 micro Hydel projects and 750 water–efficient
irrigation projects across the country.

Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Program
The October 8, 2005, earthquake led to establishment of a new
Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Unit. PPAF’s RnR Unit works
in close coordination with the Earthquake Rehabilitation &
Reconstruction Authority (ERRA), assigned by the government
with the task of rebuilding the lives and livelihoods of the
survivors especially women and vulnerable groups in earthquake
affected 34 union councils of NWFP and AJK.While reconstruction
of houses forms the major component of the RnR project significant
funds are also allocated for non-housing infrastructure, capacity
building and livelihoods.
